Product Details

A matte carbon fiber sheet does one thing that glossy can’t: it disappears under light. No glare, no hot spots, no reflection that gives away position or interferes with sensors. For tactical gear, aerospace interiors, optical bench enclosures, and any environment where light control matters, matte is the only finish that works. It’s not a cosmetic choice — it’s a functional requirement.

The matte finish isn’t an afterthought coating. It comes from the mold surface during the pressing stage — the same epoxy resin, the same 60-65% fiber volume fraction, the same structural performance as our glossy sheets, but with a controlled micro-texture on the surface that scatters light instead of reflecting it. No paint, no film, no secondary process that can peel or wear off. The matte texture is integral to the laminate, and it stays matte for the life of the part.

Beyond glare control, the matte surface has a practical advantage: it bonds better. The micro-texture gives adhesives and coatings more surface area to grip, which is why engineers spec matte carbon panels for bonded assemblies, painted components, and secondary lamination. If you’re gluing, potting, or over-molding carbon fiber, matte gives you a stronger joint than gloss ever will.

We offer matte on both sides, or matte one side / glossy on the other — useful when you need a non-reflective interior surface with a presentable exterior. Thickness range from 0.2mm to 50mm+. Standard stock sizes ship within 3 working days. Custom CNC machining available with ±0.05mm tolerance.

Applications

  • Tactical and defense housings — Non-reflective carbon fiber is mandatory for equipment that operates in low-visibility environments. Sensor housings, communication enclosures, and portable power units where glare reveals position. The matte surface eliminates specular reflection across the visible and near-IR spectrum
  • Aerospace cabin interiors — Aircraft interior panels, cockpit trim, and overhead bin covers where overhead lighting creates glare on glossy surfaces. Matte CF panel absorbs scattered light instead of reflecting it into passengers’ eyes and instrument panels
  • Optical and sensor enclosures — Camera housings, LIDAR mounts, and telescope structural components where even minor reflections inside the optical path corrupt data. Matte finish minimizes stray light inside the enclosure
  • Bonded and painted assemblies — The matte micro-texture gives adhesives 30-40% more bonding surface area than gloss. Used as substrate panels for painted components, over-molded parts, and secondary lamination where joint strength is critical
  • Underwater equipment — Submersible housings and ROV structural panels where glare from dive lights interferes with camera feeds. The non-reflective surface also reduces visual signature in underwater surveillance applications

Why Choose YTCarbon

  • One plant, full control. We press our own carbon fiber sheet from raw tow, then CNC machine every part in the same facility. No trading companies in the chain, no unknown quality, no batch-to-batch variance. We exhibited at the 2025 World UAV Expo — see what a real carbon fiber factory puts on the table
  • Mold-finish matte, not coated. The non-reflective surface comes from the press mold, not from spray paint or film. It won’t peel, scratch off, or degrade. The texture is part of the laminate — same lifespan as the carbon fiber itself
  • Controlled surface roughness. We specify Ra 0.8–1.6 μm on matte sides. Too smooth and you’re back to reflective; too rough and it affects dimensional tolerance. Our process hits the range that gives maximum light scatter without compromising flatness
  • 3m × 8m max sheet size. One of the largest single-piece press capabilities in China. For large interior panels or oversized stealth carbon fiber panel builds, we deliver uninterrupted sheets without joints
  • ISO 9001 certified. Quality management system audited independently. Material Test Reports and surface finish measurement data available on request

Certifications

Every sheet we ship carries documented quality credentials. Our facility holds ISO 9001 certification for quality management, and our carbon fiber materials are RoHS and CE compliant — required if you’re selling into the EU or supplying customers who need traceable material documentation. How to Order

Working with a factory-direct supplier means you skip the trading company markup and talk straight to the people making your sheet. Here’s how the process works: send us your requirements — thickness, size, quantity, surface finish (matte both sides or matte/glossy combo), and any CNC machining specs. We respond with a quote within 24 hours, including material grade options and lead time. Need samples first? We ship standard-size test pieces so you can verify the surface quality before committing to a full order. Once you confirm, we produce, inspect, and ship. Payment via T/T, PayPal, or letter of credit.

Frequently Asked Questions

+ Is a matte carbon fiber sheet really non-reflective?
Not 100% — no flat surface is. But matte CF scatters light instead of creating a specular reflection. Under typical indoor lighting, a matte surface reflects less than 5% of incident light as glare, compared to 40-60% from a glossy finish. In tactical and optical environments, that difference is the gap between detected and undetected. For applications requiring absolute zero reflection, secondary treatment like anti-reflective coating can be applied over the matte surface.
+ How is the matte finish created — is it painted or coated?
Neither. The matte finish comes from the mold surface during pressing — the epoxy resin cures against a textured mold plate that imprints the micro-roughness directly into the laminate. No paint, no film, no post-process spray. The result is a matte finish CF sheet where the texture is integral to the surface, not something sitting on top that can peel, scratch off, or degrade over time. It’s the same resin, same fiber, same structural properties — just a different mold surface.
+ Why does matte bond better than glossy for adhesive joints?
It comes down to surface area. The micro-texture on a non-reflective carbon fiber surface gives adhesives 30-40% more contact area than a smooth glossy surface. More contact area means stronger mechanical interlocking and better chemical bonding. If you’re bonding this stealth carbon fiber panel into an assembly with structural epoxy, polyurethane, or cyanoacrylate, matte consistently outperforms gloss in peel and shear testing. That’s why bonded assemblies in aerospace and defense always specify matte.
+ Can I get matte on one side and glossy on the other?
Yes. We run this configuration regularly — matte on the interior or bonding side, glossy on the visible exterior. It’s done by using a textured mold plate on one side and a polished mold plate on the other during pressing. Same carbon panel, same structural properties, different surface on each face. This is a popular option for equipment housings where the inside gets bonded or painted and the outside needs to look clean.
+ Does the matte surface affect mechanical properties or dimensional tolerance?
No. The matte texture is a surface-level feature — typically 5-15 microns deep. It does not affect the fiber layup, resin content, or structural performance of the carbon panel. Dimensional tolerance remains ±0.05mm on thickness. Tensile strength, flexural modulus, and fiber volume fraction are identical to our glossy sheets produced from the same material batch. The only difference is what light does when it hits the surface.
+ What thickness and size options are available for matte finish sheets?
Matte finish is available across our full range — 0.2mm up to 50mm+ thick, and up to 3m × 8m in single-piece sheet size. Standard stock sizes are 500×500mm, 600×600mm, and 1000×1000mm. Custom sizes and CNC machining are available on request. Any thickness that we produce in glossy, we can produce in matte — it’s the same pressing process, just a different mold surface.
