Product Details

Most carbon fiber suppliers sell you a raw sheet and wish you luck finding a machine shop. We do both — press the sheet, then CNC cut your parts from it in the same facility. That’s not a small convenience. Carbon fiber machines differently than metal: wrong feeds and speeds cause delamination, wrong tool paths fray the edges, wrong hold-down flexes the panel and kills tolerance. When the people pressing the sheet are also the people cutting it, you get parts that fit.

Our CNC service covers the full range: 2D profile cutting from DXF files, 3D contour machining from STEP models, drilling and countersinking at any diameter, chamfering and edge finishing, and embedded brass inserts for threaded connections. We run multi-axis CNC with carbon-specific toolpaths optimized for clean edges and minimal delamination. Tolerance is ±0.05mm on standard machining — tight enough for precision assemblies where gap control matters.

Here’s what makes our CNC service different from a standalone machine shop: we control the material. If a sheet comes out of the press with a slight thickness variation, we know about it before machining starts — and we adjust tool heights accordingly. A shop that buys sheet from a trading company doesn’t have that visibility. One supplier, one quality chain, one point of accountability from raw fiber to finished part.

Applications

  • Drone and UAV frame parts — CNC cut center plates, arm mounts, and camera brackets from your frame design. Multiple thicknesses in one order, all parts machined to ±0.05mm and ready for assembly
  • Robotics and automation — Precision brackets, mounting plates, and linkage components. Embedded brass inserts for modular assembly, chamfered edges for safe handling in production environments
  • Industrial equipment — Custom machined carbon fiber parts for machine guards, sensor mounts, and fixture plates. Replace aluminum components at one-third the weight without finding a separate machine shop
  • Prototype and small-batch production — No MOQ on CNC orders. One part for fit-check, ten for field testing, a hundred for first production run. Same files, same quality, same supplier as you scale up

Why Choose YTCarbon

  • One plant, press and machine. We press the sheet, then CNC cut your parts in the same facility. No handoff to a third-party machine shop. We exhibited at the 2025 World UAV Expo — see what a real carbon fiber factory puts on the table
  • Carbon-specific CNC toolpaths. We don’t run metal cutting programs on carbon. Our toolpaths are optimized for clean edges, minimal delamination, and no fiber pull-out. Countersinks are clean, holes are round, edges are smooth — not always the case from a generic machine shop
  • Material control = machining accuracy. We know the exact thickness and fiber orientation of every sheet before machining starts. If a sheet varies from nominal, we adjust tool heights — you get parts to spec regardless. A shop buying from a distributor can’t do this
  • Full range of secondary operations. Drilling, countersinking, chamfering, edge sealing, insert pressing, surface engraving — all in one setup. You receive finished parts, not blanks that need more work

Certifications

Every sheet we ship carries documented quality credentials. Our facility holds ISO 9001 certification for quality management, and our carbon fiber materials are RoHS and CE compliant — required if you’re selling into the EU or supplying customers who need traceable material documentation. Need a copy for your records? Just ask and we’ll send the PDF.

How to Order

Working with a factory-direct supplier means you skip the trading company markup and talk straight to the people making your parts. Here’s how the process works: send us your design files — DXF, STEP, IGES, DWG, or SolidWorks — along with material specs (fiber grade, thickness, surface finish) and quantity. We respond with a quote within 24 hours, including machining cost and lead time. For first orders, we recommend ordering a sample piece to verify fit and finish before committing to full production. Once you confirm, we machine, inspect, and ship. Payment via T/T, PayPal, or letter of credit.

Frequently Asked Questions

+ What file formats do you accept for CNC machining?
DXF for 2D profile cutting — fastest to quote and program. STEP or IGES for 3D contour machining with complex surfaces. DWG also works for 2D. SolidWorks part files for direct feature extraction. PDF drawings as reference only — we need vector geometry to generate toolpaths. If your file format isn’t listed, send it anyway and we’ll figure out how to work with it.
+ What’s the tightest tolerance you can hold on machined carbon fiber?
±0.05mm on standard CNC machining — this covers profile dimensions, hole diameters, and feature positions. For applications that need tighter control (precision jig plates, optical mounts), we can hold ±0.02mm on critical features with our precision machining process. Note that carbon fiber has a slight tendency to spring back after cutting, so the achievable tolerance depends on part geometry and thickness. We’ll advise on what’s realistic for your specific part before quoting.
+ Can you press in threaded inserts during CNC machining?
Yes. We drill the insert pocket, then press in brass threaded inserts (M3 through M8 standard, custom sizes available) using a heat-set process. The insert bonds with the surrounding epoxy and locks mechanically — pull-out strength exceeds the bolt rating in most cases. For high-cycle assembly and disassembly, we also offer helicoil inserts. All insert work is done in the same CNC setup as the rest of the machining, so insert positions are accurate to the same ±0.05mm tolerance as the profile.
+ Why is it better to have the same factory press the sheet and machine the parts?
Because we know the material. When we machine a sheet we pressed ourselves, we know the exact thickness, fiber orientation, resin content, and any slight variations from nominal. We adjust tool heights and feed rates to match. A standalone machine shop gets a sheet from a distributor — they don’t know if it’s 2.00mm or 2.08mm thick until they measure it, and by then the first part might be out of spec. One factory, one quality chain, one point of accountability. If something’s off, there’s no finger-pointing between supplier and machinist.
+ Do you offer edge sealing or painting after machining?
Yes. Machined carbon fiber edges expose the fiber ends, which can wick moisture over time if left untreated. We offer edge sealing with epoxy coating — standard for parts used in humid or marine environments. For painted or color-coded parts, we apply primer and topcoat after machining. Edge sealing adds 1-2 days to lead time; painting adds 3-5 days. Both are done in-house, not outsourced.
+ What’s the lead time for CNC machined carbon fiber parts?
Simple 2D profile cutting: 5-7 working days. Complex 3D machining with inserts and multiple setups: 7-12 working days. First articles for new designs: 5-7 days. Repeat orders: 3-5 days once toolpaths are programmed. Rush service available — tell us your deadline and we’ll confirm what’s possible. Standard raw sheet (no machining) ships within 3 working days.
