Building a drone? The right carbon fiber sheet makes or breaks your frame. Too thin and your center plate flexes under motor torque, killing flight stability. Too thick and you’re carrying weight that does nothing for performance. This is the sheet category where every gram matters and every millimeter of thickness has a job to do. We sell carbon plate to drone builders every day — here’s what they actually need.

The most common configuration: 1.5-2mm for center plates and top plates where stiffness matters but weight is critical, 2-3mm for arm mounting plates and motor mounts where bolt loads concentrate, and 3-5mm for payload decks and gimbal mounts on industrial UAVs where the structure carries real weight. We stock all of these. Send us your frame design and we’ll cut every plate from the right thickness — one order, multiple specs.

Why carbon plate instead of aluminum for drone builds? At equivalent stiffness, carbon fiber weighs one-third as much. On a multirotor where every gram of airframe weight is a gram less payload or flight time, that’s not a marginal gain — it’s the difference between a drone that does the job and one that doesn’t. We use T700 as our standard drone-grade fiber: higher specific strength than T300 at a manageable price point. T300 for budget builds, T800 for racing, T1000 for the lightest possible structure.

Applications

  • FPV and racing drone frames — 1.5-2mm carbon plate for center plates, top plates, and camera mounts. Maximum stiffness at minimum weight for aggressive flight. T700 standard, T800 for competition builds
  • Industrial UAV platforms — 3-5mm industrial drone carbon plate for payload decks, gimbal mounts, and equipment bays. Carries LiDAR, thermal cameras, and mapping sensors without flex that kills data accuracy
  • Agricultural drone structures — Arm mounting plates and motor mounts for large agricultural UAVs carrying spray tanks. 2-3mm CF sheet handles vibration and bolt loads from high-thrust motors at a fraction of aluminum weight
  • Custom drone prototyping — CNC-cut plates from your frame design. Send us DXF or STEP files and we’ll cut every plate, drill every hole, chamfer every edge. One supplier for the full airframe sheet package

Why Choose YTCarbon

  • One plant, full control. We press our own carbon fiber sheet and CNC machine drone parts in the same facility. We exhibited at the 2025 World UAV Expo — see what a real carbon fiber factory puts on the table. We know drones because we build drone parts every day
  • Multiple thicknesses in one order. Center plates at 1.5mm, arm mounts at 2mm, payload decks at 4mm — specify every component and we cut them all from the right stock. No need to source different thicknesses from different suppliers
  • T700 as standard drone grade. Higher specific strength than T300 at a reasonable price. For most drone builds, T700 is the sweet spot — strong enough for any flight load, affordable enough for production. T800 and T1000 available for weight-critical competition builds
  • No MOQ on standard sizes. One set for prototyping, fifty sets for production. Same material, same quality. Fast turnaround — standard stock sizes ship within 3 working days

Certifications

Every sheet we ship carries documented quality credentials. Our facility holds ISO 9001 certification for quality management, and our carbon fiber materials are RoHS and CE compliant — required if you’re selling into the EU or supplying customers who need traceable material documentation. How to Order

Working with a factory-direct supplier means you skip the trading company markup and talk straight to the people making your sheet. Here’s how the process works: send us your frame design — DXF, STEP, or DWG files — and we’ll quote every plate with the right thickness and fiber grade. We respond within 24 hours. Need samples first? We ship small test pieces so you can check weight and stiffness before committing. Once you confirm, we CNC cut, inspect, and ship. Payment via T/T, PayPal, or letter of credit.

Frequently Asked Questions

+ What thickness should I use for my drone center plate?
For FPV and racing drones (5-7 inch class): 1.5-2mm. For medium industrial UAVs (3-10kg): 2-3mm. For heavy-lift drones (10kg+): 3-5mm. The rule of thumb: the center plate needs to resist motor torque and arm-induced vibration without flexing. If you can twist the plate by hand, it’s too thin for stable flight. If it’s thicker than needed, you’re wasting flight time carrying dead weight.
+ Should I use T700 or T300 carbon fiber for my drone frame?
T700 for anything that flies. Higher tensile strength means you can run the same stiffness at a thinner, lighter panel — or get more stiffness at the same weight. T300 works for budget builds and prototyping, but the weight penalty adds up. On a typical 5-inch FPV frame, switching from T300 to T700 saves 5-8g on the center plate alone. For industrial UAV carbon plate where the payload budget matters more than the frame cost, T700 is the standard choice.
+ Can you cut drone frame plates from my design files?
Yes. Send us DXF, STEP, or DWG files and we’ll CNC cut every plate — center plates, top plates, arm mounts, camera brackets, whatever your frame design calls for. We drill mounting holes, chamfer edges, and countersink screw seats. Tolerance is ±0.05mm. You receive finished parts ready for assembly — no filing, no drilling, no secondary work. One order covers the full sheet package for your drone frame.
+ How much weight does carbon fiber save vs aluminum for a drone frame?
Roughly 60-65% weight savings at equivalent stiffness. A 2mm CF center plate that replaces a 4mm 6061-T6 aluminum plate weighs about one-third as much while providing similar bending rigidity. On a typical industrial drone, swapping aluminum frame plates for carbon saves 200-500g depending on frame size — that’s 200-500g more battery, sensor, or payload capacity. For agricultural and mapping UAVs, the extra payload directly translates to longer missions and higher revenue per flight.
+ Do you offer frame kits or only raw sheet?
Both. We sell raw drone frame CF sheet in standard sizes for builders who cut their own, and we sell CNC-cut frame plate sets machined to your design. We also have standard frame kits for popular configurations (5-inch, 7-inch, 10-inch) — contact us for the current catalog. For custom frame designs, send your files and we’ll quote the full plate package. All options use the same factory-direct material and quality standard.
