The most common configuration: 1.5-2mm for center plates and top plates where stiffness matters but weight is critical, 2-3mm for arm mounting plates and motor mounts where bolt loads concentrate, and 3-5mm for payload decks and gimbal mounts on industrial UAVs where the structure carries real weight. Why carbon plate instead of aluminum for drone builds? At equivalent stiffness, carbon fiber weighs one-third as much. On a multirotor where every gram of airframe weight is a gram less payload or flight time, that’s not a marginal gain — it’s the difference between a drone that does the job and one that doesn’t. We use T700 as our standard drone-grade fiber: higher specific strength than T300 at a manageable price point. T300 for budget builds, T800 for racing, T1000 for the lightest possible structure.
