Product Details

Buying raw carbon fiber tubes and then finding someone else to cut, drill, and thread them? That’s two vendors, two lead times, two quality checks — and twice the headache. Our CNC machined carbon fiber tubes solve that. We produce the tube AND machine it, all under one roof in Shenzhen. Send us your drawing, we send you a finished part ready to bolt in.

What can we machine? End-face cutting to tight length tolerances (±0.1mm). Cross-hole drilling for pins, bolts, or ventilation. Slot milling for slide mechanisms or cable routing. Internal and external threading for connector joints. Chamfering and deburring so every edge is clean and safe to handle. Taper turning for press-fit assemblies. If it can be done on a tube, our CNC workcenters can do it — on CF tubes from 6mm OD all the way up to 80mm, with wall thickness from 0.5mm to 5mm.

Every machined tube starts as one of our standard roll-wrapped or pultruded tubes — up to 3m per section (roll-wrapped) or 8m continuous (pultruded). We machine on 3-axis and 4-axis CNC centers with custom fixtures designed for carbon fiber, not adapted from metal tooling. That matters — CF doesn’t cut like aluminum. Wrong feeds and speeds cause delamination, fraying, and internal damage you can’t see. We’ve spent years dialing in our parameters. The result: clean edges, no delamination, dimensional accuracy that holds. Custom OD/ID, custom machining, one factory.

Applications

  • Robotic Arms & Automation — CNC-drilled joint holes and threaded ends for bolt-together robotic arm sections. Arrives ready to assemble, no secondary processing needed.
  • UAV Frame Connectors — Precision-milled slots and cross-holes for quick-release drone arm joints. Tight tolerances mean zero play in flight.
  • Medical & Rehabilitation Devices — Threaded CF tubes for adjustable crutches, walker frames, and prosthetic components. Clean edges, no fiber exposure — safe for skin contact.
  • Industrial Fixtures & Jigs — Slotted and chamfered tubes for custom assembly fixtures. Pin holes, cable slots, and mounting features machined to your print.
  • Camera & Optical Mounting — Taper-turned ends for press-fit lens mounts, cross-drilled for set screws. Used in cinema rigs, surveying poles, and telescope trusses up to 8m long.

Why Choose YTCarbon

  • Proven at 2025 World UAV Expo — We exhibited at the 2025 World UAV Expo — see what a real carbon fiber factory puts on the table. Our CNC-machined drone arm tubes were on display, and visitors couldn’t believe the edge quality. No fraying, no delamination — just clean, precise cuts on real CF.
  • Tube + CNC Under One Roof — Most suppliers sell you a raw tube and wish you luck finding a machinist. We make the tube AND cut it on our own CNC workcenters. One purchase order, one quality standard, one shipment. That saves you 1–2 weeks of lead time minimum.
  • CF-Specific CNC Parameters — Carbon fiber isn’t aluminum. Wrong spindle speed or feed rate causes delamination you won’t see until the part is under load. We’ve spent years optimizing tool paths, diamond-coated bits, and fixturing specifically for CF tubes. The result speaks for itself — clean edges every time.
  • Full Length Machining — Need an 8m pultruded tube with drilled holes every 200mm? We can do that. Our CNC setup handles long tubes in a single fixture, maintaining accuracy across the full length. No piecewise cutting, no misaligned holes.
  • Drawing to Finished Part — Send us STEP, DWG, or even a hand-sketched PDF with dimensions. We program the tool path, machine a first article for your approval, then run production. Custom OD/ID, custom features, zero back-and-forth with a third-party machine shop.

Certifications

Every CNC machined carbon fiber tube from YTCarbon ships with ISO 9001:2015 quality management backing, plus RoHS and CE compliance. Our Shenzhen factory maintains full dimensional traceability — each machined part is measured against your drawing before it ships. First article inspection reports available on request. CNC fixtures and tool paths are validated before every production run.

How We Manufacture Your Custom CNC Carbon Fiber Tube

The process starts the same as any YTCarbon tube — roll-wrapping or pultruding to your OD/ID spec. Once cured and inspected, the raw tube moves to our CNC workcenter. We fixture it on custom V-block supports designed for CF — not metal V-grips that would crush the wall. The tool path is programmed directly from your drawing. For drilling, we use diamond-coated bits with peck cycles to prevent fiber pull-out. For slot milling, we climb-cut with progressive depth passes to avoid delamination. Threading is done with single-point cutting tools, not taps, to maintain fiber integrity at the thread root. After machining, every part gets a compressed-air blowout to remove dust, then a visual and dimensional inspection against your spec. Tubes with any sign of edge delamination are scrapped — no exceptions.

FAQ

+ Can you CNC thread both inside and outside of a carbon fiber tube?
Yes. External threading is straightforward — single-point cutting on the OD. Internal threading depends on the ID and wall thickness; we need at least 2mm wall to cut a reliable thread. We recommend M3–M20 metric threads for most applications. UNC/UNF is available too. For thin-wall tubes, a bonded metal insert is a more reliable threading solution — we can do that as well.
+ What file format should I send for CNC machining carbon fiber tubes?
STEP or IGES files are ideal — we import them directly into our CAM software. DWG and DXF 2D drawings work fine too, as long as dimensions and tolerances are clearly marked. Even a well-annotated PDF sketch can get us started for simple features like holes and slots. The more complete your drawing, the faster we can program and quote.
+ Does CNC machining weaken the carbon fiber tube?
Any cut through the fiber reduces local strength — that’s just physics. A cross-hole removes material at that section; a slot reduces bending stiffness along the slot axis. The key is knowing how to place features and size them so the remaining wall can still carry the load. We can advise on feature placement and wall retention if you share your load requirements. Properly placed holes and slots have minimal impact on overall tube performance.
+ What’s the minimum order quantity for CNC machined carbon fiber tubes?
Starting from 10 pieces for simple machining (cutting to length, drilling a few holes). More complex parts with multiple setups may require 20–50 pieces minimum to justify the fixture and programming cost. Prototype quantities (1–5 pieces) are possible but carry a setup surcharge. We’re flexible — tell us what you need and we’ll find a way to make it work.
+ How do you prevent delamination when CNC cutting carbon fiber tubes?
Three things: right tools, right feeds, right fixtures. We use diamond-coated or carbide bits designed for composites, not metal-cutting tools. Feed rates are slower than aluminum machining to prevent fiber pull-out. Fixtures use custom V-blocks that distribute clamping force evenly across the tube wall — not metal vises that create point loads. After cutting, we inspect every machined edge visually and dimensionally. Any part showing delamination gets scrapped.
