Product Details

Most shin guards are plastic shells stamped out by the million — cheap, bulky, and they crack after one hard tackle. A carbon fiber shin guard is different. The composite shell is stiffer and lighter than any thermoplastic at the same thickness, meaning more protection with less weight. Over 60% of pro contact-sport players now prefer carbon fiber for the strength-to-weight ratio alone.

42% More Impact Absorption

Carbon fiber composites absorb up to 42% more impact energy than polyurethane shells. The rigid carbon face distributes force across a wider area instead of denting at the contact point, while EVA foam backing cushions what gets through. Lighter on the leg, harder on impact — nothing else at this weight comes close.

OEM Customization

We manufacture for sports brands, team dealers, and protective gear distributors. Each guard starts as T700 prepreg press-molded into the shell profile, then bonded to a customized EVA foam liner. Shell curvature, length, weave pattern, foam thickness, and strap system — all specifiable. From 500 pairs for a club line to 50,000 for a global launch, impact performance stays consistent.

Applications

  • Soccer / Football — Mandatory in FIFA-sanctioned matches. Carbon shells are 40% lighter than plastic at the same protection level, reducing leg fatigue over 90 minutes.
  • Rugby & Hockey — Higher-impact sports demand thicker shells (1.8–2.0mm) with dual-strap retention. Carbon distributes tackle and stick impact across the full shell area.
  • MMA & Combat Sports — Curved carbon shells for shin-to-shin impact. EVA backing prevents skin abrasion during clinch work.
  • Cricket & Baseball — Extended-length guards covering knee-to-ankle. Carbon rigidity stops ball impacts that would fracture through foam-only pads.
  • Youth & Academy Lines — Lighter, smaller shells for junior players. Lower weight means kids actually wear them instead of taking them off at halftime.

Why Choose YTCarbon

  • Proven at the 2025 World UAV Expo — Press-molding a shin guard shell uses the same matched-die precision as forming a drone fuselage panel. Same discipline, different shape.
  • 42% More Impact Absorption Than Plastic — Carbon distributes force instead of denting. CE EN 13061 certified. Test reports supplied with every order.
  • 80g Per Pair — Lighter Than a Smartphone — Less mass on the leg means faster sprints and less fatigue, with no protection compromise.
  • Custom Shell Geometry Per Sport — Soccer guards need ankle clearance; hockey guards wrap higher; cricket guards extend to the knee. Each sport gets its own die and profile.
  • Full OEM — Brand It, We Build It — Your logo, weave, foam color, packaging. From concept sketch to 50K-pair production, one factory, one contact.

Certifications

YTCarbon operates under ISO 9001:2015 quality management. Every shin guard batch is traceable from T700 prepreg intake through compression molding, EVA bonding, and CE EN 13061 impact testing. We provide material test reports, CE certificates, and impact data sheets with each shipment — the documentation your brand needs for regulated markets.

How We Manufacture Your Carbon Fiber Shin Guard

T700 prepreg is cut to the shell flat pattern and laid into a CNC-machined aluminum matched-metal die. The die closes under controlled pressure and temperature, curing the carbon shell and bonding it to EVA foam in one cycle. After demolding, edges are CNC-trimmed, ventilation holes drilled if specified, and the strap system attached. Each pair is weighed, inspected, and tested for stiffness and foam compression before packing.

FAQ

+ How much lighter is a carbon fiber shin guard than a plastic one?
Plastic guards weigh 120–180g per pair. Our carbon guards weigh 80–150g — roughly 30–40% lighter at the same protection level. For a player running 10–12km per match, every gram adds up. Carbon meets CE EN 13061 while cutting the weight that slows players down.
+ Do carbon fiber shin guards meet CE EN 13061 certification?
Yes. CE EN 13061 covers shock absorption, impact resistance, and dimensions for football shin guards. Carbon shells consistently outperform minimum thresholds because composite stiffness distributes force across the full shell. Test reports included with every batch.
+ Can you make anatomical left and right shin guard shells?
Yes. Anatomical left/right shells need two separate dies — one per leg contour — so the guard wraps naturally around the tibia. Symmetrical shells use one die but leave more gap. For premium lines, anatomical is the way to go. We CNC-machine both die sets in-house.
+ What EVA foam density and thickness work best?
5–6mm EVA at 40–50 Shore C for soccer and rugby. 4mm for lightweight race-day guards. 7–8mm for hockey and cricket with repeated ball impacts. We bond foam to shell during compression molding — no delamination risk.
+ What is the typical tooling cost and lead time?
Symmetrical guard die set: $3,000–$5,000, 12–15 day lead time. Anatomical left/right needs two die sets, roughly double. Dies last 100,000+ cycles. Sample production: 5–7 days. Full runs start at 500 pairs with 20–25 day delivery. You own the die — we store and maintain it free.
